FAQ
1. Do they really hold hair well?
Yes, they hold more than you imagine.
We have different designs designed to suit all hair types: fine, thick, curly, or straight.
The important thing is to learn how to use them well (and not give up on the first try!).
Many customers write to us, surprised by how well they hold, even on very straight or heavy hair.
2. Are they good for fine hair?
Yes, absolutely.
For fine hair, we recommend shorter, thinner clips that hold your hair without slipping or pulling.
Furthermore, fine hair is especially delicate, and the continued use of elastic bands or clips can damage it, break it, or even weaken it over time.
With our clips, you can gently gather your hair without squeezing or breaking it—caring for your hair from the roots up.
3. What if I have very curly or thick hair?
They also work brilliantly.
In fact, many clients with curls tell us they’ve finally found an accessory that holds their hair without weighing it down.
To start practicing, we recommend designs with two or more prongs, which offer more hold and stability for hair with a lot of volume or density.
It’s a matter of finding the updo that works best for you… and once you get the hang of it, there’s no going back!
4. How do you use the sticks?
It’s very easy, although it may seem complicated at first.
We’re preparing a new video tutorial to explain it to you step by step.
In the meantime, if you need help getting started, you can send us a direct message on Instagram and we’ll be happy to guide you.
5. Are they handmade?
Yes, 100%.
Each stick is handmade by a small family of artisans in Bali, with whom we’ve been working for 18 years.
We don’t use molds or industrial production, so each piece is unique.
6. What material are they made of?
We use teak wood for the combs and some designs, and recycled teak for the sticks.
It’s light, soft to the touch, and doesn’t tug.
7. Can they get wet or be used at the beach or pool?
Yes, they’re perfectly fine to wear on wet hair—in fact, it’s highly recommended!
When hair is wet, it’s more fragile, and the wooden sticks hold it gently, without pulling or damaging it like rubber bands.
However, we don’t recommend bathing with them or leaving them in the water for long periods of time, as, being made of natural wood, they can be damaged by excess moisture and direct sunlight.
With a little care, they’ll last for years, even in summer.
8. I don't know which model to choose... can you help me?
Of course!
If you don’t know which one will suit you best, you can write to us on Instagram or email, and we’ll be happy to help.
Just tell us a little about your hair type and what style you’d like, and we’ll guide you with options that suit you.
9. Can I give one as a gift? Does it come in nice packaging?
Yes, yes.
All our orders come with a beautiful recycled Indian saree bag and a thank you card, ready to gift.
If you’d like to add a special note or send the package directly to that person, just leave it in your note when placing your order.
10. Do you have gift cards?
Not yet… but you’re asking a lot, so maybe soon.
For now, if you want to give a gift and don’t know which model to choose, write to us and we’ll help you choose the right one.
11. Do you have WhatsApp support?
We don’t have an active WhatsApp account at the moment, but we’re working on it.
If you need help, the quickest way is to contact us on Instagram at Palospelos Barcelona or at helena.caballero@misenscenetest.com, where we respond daily with great care.
You can also email us if you prefer.
12. Are the combs also handmade?
Yes, they’re handmade with great care, just like the sticks.
Each piece is hand-carved and polished from teak wood, a precious, durable wood that’s especially suitable for hair care.
There’s no mass production: each comb is unique.
13. Why is a wooden comb better?
Because it takes care of your hair the way it deserves.
Teak wood doesn’t generate static electricity, doesn’t tug, and is much gentler on the scalp than plastic or metal combs.
It also stimulates circulation and helps distribute the scalp’s natural oils throughout the hair.
It’s ideal for curly or sensitive hair, or for those simply looking for a little pampering every day.
14. Can they be used in the wet?
Yes!
Teak is a wood that is very resistant to moisture, which is why our combs are perfect for use right after showering, when your hair is at its most fragile.
Unlike plastic, it won’t break or damage the hair fiber.
However, after using them, it’s best to dry them thoroughly with a towel and avoid leaving them soaking wet in the bathroom.
15. How long do wooden combs last?
If you take good care of them, they can last for many years.
They’re handmade from teak wood, a durable wood naturally suited for daily use, even with wet hair.
It’s true that a plastic comb can last just as long or longer, but they’re not as kind to your hair or the planet as ours are.
Wooden combs don’t generate static electricity, don’t damage hair fibers, and are also biodegradable and sustainable.
16. How do I care for my chopsticks and combs so they last a long time?
With a little care, your chopsticks and combs can last for years.
They’re made of natural wood, without varnish or chemicals—so they’re cared for just like you would a piece of solid wood furniture… but in miniature. 😉
- Do not use products to clean them. A dry cloth is more than enough.
- If they get wet, simply let them dry thoroughly and avoid exposing them to direct sunlight for long periods of time.
- The wood hydrates with use, thanks to contact with your own hair. But if you stop using them and notice they’ve dried out, you can gently rub them with any natural vegetable oil (such as coconut or olive oil).
- And above all: common sense. Treat them like the special objects they are.
Each piece is handmade, and if you treat it with care, it will last a long time. 💛
